New York Giants fans may finally have something to rejoice.
The New York Giants fell to a nauseating overtime 20- 17 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday in Germany.
The Panthers – who have arguably been the worst team in the NFL for the past three years – may have given the Giants a loss, but it could be a win nonetheless.
While there are still a small number of believers that think Jones is not the problem, the majority of the fan base cannot wait for the Giants to move on.
This loss may finally by the catalyst for his benching.
Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen should have no choice here. Jones has been awful all season – missing easy throws, panicking at the line of scrimmage and making poor decisions leaving points off the board.
Combine that with an injury guarantee of $23 million in his contract and the fact the Giants are now 2-8, it is time for Jones to sit the season out.
Going into a bye week, I would be massively shocked if the Giants opt to trot out Jones at quarterback come Week 12 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jones is certainly not the only problem the Giants have but without a doubt he is their largest.
With a current projected pick of #2 in next year’s draft, it is time for the Giants to bench Jones and move on once and for all.
