The Miami Dolphins are still alive – just!

Miami moved back into the win column on Monday night.

Last week we asked the question, should the Miami Dolphins stick or twist?

Should they be look to trade, cut or just reduce the involvement of players who are not in the long-term plans? The questions were asked given the high probability that they would not make the postseason.

Well the Dolphins stuck – they did nothing before the trade deadline – and then they went for the win against the Los Angeles Rams.

Head coach Mike McDaniel has confirmed that, despite getting interest in certain players, the reason for a lack of activity was that they still believe in the players.

The Dolphins still believe in their ability to get out of the tough situation they have put themselves into. It is clear that they plan to battle until the situation is impossible.

I understand that they are a totally different team with Tua Tagovailoa at the helm.

Last week’s game at the Buffalo Bills has now been followed by a good win against the Rams. It gives a glimmer of hope that they can play well enough to put a good run together. But can they put a run together that will take them to the postseason?

The statistics say it is possible

The next two games against the Las Vegas Raiders and the New England Patriots are winnable – win these and they go into Thanksgiving 5-6. Who knows what happens from there?

According to @FTNFantasy, the Dolphins have the second-easiest remaining schedule, and a 22.5% chance of reaching the playoffs.

One thing is for sure – reaching the postseason would be a historical achievement, and the momentum they would take into the playoffs would be incredible.

They will have done a lot of things that people said they could not do –  played well in the winter months and run the ball down the stretch.

The flip side is that if they do not put a great run together then they missed an opportunity to raise draft capital for the inevitable rebuild – even if the rebuild is not as harsh as the one in 2019.

Time will tell if they were right to stick rather than twist, but while there is a chance there is still hope – Fins Up!
