Saquon sparkles as Eagles beat Commanders.

The Philadelphia Eagles continued their fantastic run of form against the former top team in the NFC East, the Commanders, with a 26-18 triumph.

The result puts their destiny in their own hands as they now sit top of the division.

It was by no means a must-win game for Philadelphia, but it was an opportunity to make a statement and test Washington’s talented rookie’s resolve.

Jayden Daniels had a stunning start to the year, leading the Commanders to a 7-2 record.

However, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ resilient defense showed there are weaknesses in Daniels’ game and Vic Fangio, the Eagles defensive coordinator, came ready to expose them.

Despite giving up 18 points in the duration of the game, the Eagles defensive unit looked as impressive as ever. Fangio’s defense held the Commanders to just 264 yards – which improved Philadelphia’s previous rate of 274 yards per game.

Rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell continued to blossom and put his name in that hat for Defensive Rookie of the Year as he displayed elite coverage all game long.

Of course, after my article praising Jalen Hurts and his MVP level season, he decided to turn in a below average performance.

But do not fear Eagles fans, this is what makes this team so dangerous. When one player has an off-night, another superstar can step up.

Saquon Barkley! The name that Philadelphia’s fanbase just cannot hear enough of. The former New York Giants running back put on a scintillating show.

Barkley exposed the glaring holes in the Commanders’ run defense as he stacked up a total of 146 yards on 26 carries, resulting in two touchdowns – taking him to eight touchdowns on the year.

That makes it six in a row for the Eagles and a 8-2 record for the year. Go Birds!
