The four-game winning run was ended on Monday night.

The Los Angeles Chargers have made great strides in 2024 under Jim Harbaugh. However, on Monday Night Football their weaknesses were on full display.

After a brilliant opening drive, finished off by Justin Herbert on the ground, momentum slowly starting swinging in the direction of the Baltimore Ravens.

With each passing drive, Derrick Henry looked more and more of a threat. Even through the air the Ravens were able to move the ball with relative ease.

The same could not be said for the Chargers.

There were good throws and good catches, Ladd McConkey was once again impressive. The Bolts will have also been pleased by Josh Palmer’s performance, as he drew several defensive pass interference penalties.

The wide receiver performance which everyone will remember, however, was that of Quentin Johnston.

After a rookie year plagued by drops, the TCU product appearing to be developing into a solid wide receiver in 2024.

Johnston – who missed two games earlier in the season – had six touchdowns on the season and an average of over 16 yards per catch.

Unfortunately for the Chargers though, ‘2023 Johnston’ reappeared on Monday night. With the Bolts desperately trying to get something going on offense, ‘QJ’ dropped three crucial passes.

The first one – which should have resulted in at least a 15-yard play – is egregious. Just look at the reactions inside SoFi Stadium.

One name constantly linked

For as good a McConkey has been, Monday evening highlighted the Chargers’ need for a true alpha wide receiver.

It left many of social media questioning whether the Bolts’ decision to draft Joe Alt over Malik Nabers was a correct one.

Alt, to his credit, has had a good rookie year, but a holding penalty against him immediately after Johnston’s drops only added fuel to the fire.

Tee Higgins continues to be the name which Chargers fans are calling for.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Clemson product has “little to no chance” or returning to the Bengals in 2025.

Higgins, who is still just 25, has been living in the shadow of Ja’Marr Chase in Cincinnati. Bolts fans believe he could be the solution to their problems on offense.
