The Falcons are back in action.
Hot off their bye week, the Atlanta Falcons are looking ahead to their Week 13 feature against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Currently leading the NFC South, there are a lot of contributing factors that will determine whether Atlanta can keep hold of that top spot.
Starting on Sunday with their game against the Chargers, the Falcons have to get a grip with issues on the defensive line.
With key offensive players plagued with injury, the defense is more important than ever. Darnell Mooney has only registered full practice on Thursday while Drake London was limited i midweek.
London, thankfully, does not have an injury designation going into Sunday’s game, but the pressure is still on the defense to strengthen up.
After a humiliating 38-6 defeat by the Denver Broncos in Week 11, Kirk Cousins has to improve. Issues on defense do not excuse a poor performance by the offensive line.
The Chargers are coming off of a short week after a defeat to Baltimore Ravens during Monday’s Prime Time game. In contrast, the Falcons are at home and have just had their bye week.
Further good news for the Falcons is that the Chargers’ defense has not lived up to their reputation in recent games.
In order to make a convincing run at the NFC South title, the Falcons are under pressure to get the win this week and break that losing streak.
Jim Harbaugh’s Bolts are not one to be underestimated however, and Cousins will have to think smart to outscore them.
Can the Falcons extend their 3-2 winning record against the Chargers on Sunday? It is possible, but we need the full strength of the squad to rise up.
