The injuries are piling up.
The New Orleans Saints are facing an injury crisis on offense, and are taking on the Denver Broncos on Prime Time on Thursday.
The Broncos may be without Patrick Surtain II, but their defensive unit is still an above-average group.
After two weeks of the 2024 season, the New Orleans Saints appeared to have one of the best offenses in the NFL – now look!
New Orleans scored 91 points in the first two weeks. They have managed 76 is the four weeks since.
Injuries play a huge factor in this – as they always do.
On Thursday Night Football, the Saints will likely be without Derek Carr, Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed and Taysom Hill.
To make matters worse, Shaheed will miss the rest of the 2024 surgery after meniscus surgery.
Spencer Rattler will be quarterback once again, but what weapons does he have at his disposal?
In three wide-receiver sets, New Orleans could be looking at a trio of Bub Means, Cedric Wilson Jr. and Mason Tipton.
Juwan Johnson and Foster Moreau offer additional help at tight end.
The one shining light is the fact running back Alvin Kamara is still fit and healthy – the Saints will need him on Thursday.
If that was not already evident, here are the total yards from scrimmage and touchdowns of healthy Saints players.
- Alvin Kamara – 666 yards, seven touchdowns
- Jamaal Williams – 124 yards, one touchdown
- Juwan Johnson – 118 yards, one touchdown
- Foster Moreau – 112 yards, two touchdowns
- Bub Means – 45 yards, one touchdown
- Mason Tipton – 40 yards
- Cedric Wilson Jr. – 35 yards
Simply put, Kamara has more yards from scrimmage and touchdowns than the rest of the Saints offense combined.
