Getting a sense of déjà vu Indianapolis fans?
The 2024 NFL season is now nine weeks in, and fans of the Indianapolis Colts must be nervous wrecks.
This season has been full of close-contests – in fact more than in any other season previous.
Through nine weeks, there have been a total of 75 games decided by seven points of fewer – 65 of which have been by six points or fewer.
Both those figures are records for single NFL seasons, and the Indianapolis Colts have more than played their part in setting that record.
All nine Colts games in 2024 have been one-score games – those decided by eight points of fewer.
Week 1: Colts 27-29 Texans
Week 2: Packers 16-10 Colts
Week 3: Colts 21-16 Bears
Week 4: Colts 27-24 Steelers
Week 5: Jaguars 37-34 Colts
Week 6: Titans 17-20 Colts
Week 7: Colts 16-10 Dolphins
Week 8: Texans 23-20 Colts
Week 9: Vikings 21-13 Colts
This extended run of close games has only happened three other times in NFL history. The last team to do so? You guess it! The Indianapolis Colts back in 2019.
The only other teams to start a season with nine-straight one-score games were the 2016 Detroit Lions and 2015 Baltimore Ravens.
Baltimore’s 2015 season started with 12-straight one-score games which remains the longest such run in NFL history.
With the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions coming up in the next three games, the Colts’ own run could soon be at an end.
