The running back is having himself a year.

James Connor delivered the goods for Arizona on Sunday night. A two-touchdown performance helped blow the New England Patriots away 30-17.

He had 110 rushing yards, as well as 28 receiving yards on the night. The only time this season that Connor has passed 100 rushing yards and the Cardinals have not won came against Washington back in September.

It is no surprise the veteran running back has recently been rewarded with a new two-year deal. His aggressive running game is what drives this Cardinals team. They need him more than ever if they are to fight their way to an NFC West title this season.

The Arizona defense put up another stellar showing, coming up with an interception as well as a fourth down stop when the Patriots went for it from the three-yard line.

Newcomer Baron Browning, recently signed from Denver, helped himself to a sack and rookie Darius Robinson got the first sack of his career.

Two fourth quarter rushing touchdowns from Connor capped off an excellent night for Arizona. They improve to .500 on the season so far.

Panthers up next

The Cardinals have punched above their weight this season.

If they can get another win secured in Week 16 at the struggling Carolina Panthers, they will be in the mix for the division title heading into the last couple of weeks.

The Los Angeles Rams are currently top of the NFC West with a record of 8-6, one win better than Arizona.

They travel to New Jersey next to face Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets, before a massive showdown against the Cardinals in SoFi stadium on New Year’s Eve.

All four teams in the division are still in with a chance of the top spot and a wildcard spot in the playoffs. The NFC West is the only division in the NFL that has all four teams above .400 on the year.

Sunday’s match-up against the Panthers is huge if Arizona are to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot.

Bryce Young and his team have looked better in recent weeks, but the Cardinals should have enough up top to get another W and take it into the last two games.
