Cowboys getting carried away after back-to-back wins?

There is still a long way to go for Dallas.

“We’re coming,” proclaimed Micah Parsons after the Dallas Cowboys made it back-to-back wins with a 27-20 victory over the New York Giants on Thanksgiving.

Surely Parsons cannot be alluding to the Cowboys making a run at the playoffs by challenging for an NFC Wildcard place, can he?

Nothing is certain in the NFL. However, three NFC North teams look extremely likely to make the post-season leaving one wildcard spot.

The Cowboys are three games behind the Washington Commanders, who currently occupy that final spot.

If the Commanders blink and go on to lose at least three of their final four games, then that brings the NFC West & NFC South second place teams into play.

Sadly, far too much must happen for the Cowboys to get in the mix and that includes them winning their own games. It is far too big of an ask, but never say never in the NFL.

Just 120 little hours

What I do know for sure is that this week has been fun for the Cowboys players, coaching staff and fans. Two wins in five days over divisional rivals have given the Cowboys a little pep in their step heading into a 10-day break. They are back in action against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football.

Key defensive players DeMarcus Lawrence and Trevon Diggs are expected to return to bolster a unit that has shown stark improvement in the last two weeks.

Micah Parsons has led a resurgence of the defensive line that has started to pressure the quarterback and force turnovers.

DeMarvion Overshown is getter better by the week, displaying his talents to 41.3 million viewers on Thanksgiving with his highlight touchdown against the Giants.

The Cowboys have even managed to get a running game going late in the season, gaining more than 200 yards in the last two games.

The vibes have changed that much that owner Jerry Jones is even considering giving under fire head coach Mike McCarthy a contract extension. Please Jerry, do not get carried away.

The Cowboys are on a high after a season of lows so far.

They can win a few more games and play spoiler to the Buccaneers, Eagles and Commanders before the season ends. But that is as good as it is going to get for the Cowboys.
