Did the Titans make it to Washington?

The Titans fell to 3-9 in Week 13.

I, like many Tennessee Titans fans, may have still been riding the high of a Week 12 divisional win going into Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders.

Yet it was clear from the first kick that this was one of those games when you have to remind yourself why you love your team.

We were racking up all kinds of stats, but unfortunately none that any team wants, as the Commanders eventually ran out 42-19 winners.

Barely two minutes into the first quarter, we had already managed to record our 21st false start of the season – beaten only by our 22 turnovers so far this year.

There were flashes of brilliance – however brief they were – in the form of 6’2″ Nick Westbrook-Ikhine.

The wide receiver scored two touchdowns this weekend, bringing him up to eight in his last eight games.

He has finally hit his stride with the team, and it has come at the best time. Westbrook-Ikhine is a free agent at the end of this season, so if he keeps this up many teams will be interested.

However, I believe the Titans should do whatever they can to keep him.

Handbags!

It would not be an NFL gameday if one of the teams in the league was not involved in some handbags.

There was nothing as extreme as those in the divisional matchup between the Jaguars and the Texans – which resulted in 3 disqualifications.

However, Jeffery Simmons was showcasing perhaps the only bit of fight the team had all game against the Commanders.

And so we go from the highs of a divisional win last week to the lows of losing to a team that has not made the playoffs since 2020.

There have been too many coaching and player changes to make an impact – or even an appearance – this year. I think there are still more to be made.

But the fingers remain crossed. We will rebuild and come back even stronger next season.

And who knows, maybe we will win every game we have left?
