Glimpses of the team the Titans could be

Jobs are on the line in Tennessee.

I can safely say that I experienced quite possibly every emotion in existence during the Week 16 divisional match-up against the Indianapolis Colts.

We started aggressively, opting not to defer and scoring a touchdown early in the first quarter thanks to Calvin Ridley.

We then decided to spend the next 20 minutes helping Colts running back Jonathan Taylor reach whatever milestones he needed in order to get those coveted contract bonuses paid.

But from the middle of the third period, the Titans reminded people why they are a team worth supporting.

They showed glimpses of the team that almost a year ago to the day beat the Miami Dolphins with one of the most impressive comebacks in NFL history.

Holding my breath and was wondering if it could happen to us again.

I screamed at the TV as we continued to score point after point, closing the gap from an eye watering 38-7 to a much more respectable – albeit still losing – score of 38-30. This was helped in part by two successful two-point conversions.

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine added to his impressive touchdown tally with his ninth in 24 catches – earning him the moniker Honda Accord. He is not flashy but he gets the job done.

Mason Rudolph was the starting quarterback this week and definitely seemed to favour Tyjae Spears. The third round pick from 2023 scored two touchdowns on Sunday.

Amani Hooker also had his fifth interception of the season, while T’Vondre Sweat now leads all rookie defensive lineman with 581 snaps.

These guys know the season is over and are all playing like their jobs depend on it. They are not wrong.
