Heavy is the head that wore the crown

The winning streak comes to an end.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ undefeated season has been ended by the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium.

The Chiefs’ winning streak was always going to come to an end.

Some might argue that it should have been last week, against the Denver Broncos, when the victory came down to a blocked field goal in the final seconds.

Josh Allen’s Bills team certainly did not pull any punches. Patrick Mahomes first pass attempt as intercepted on what would prove to be a long game for Chiefs’ fans.

So, how are Chiefs’ fans coping with their first season loss?

A defeat is never easy, whatever week of the regular season it comes in, but this is the regular season.

For Patrick Mahomes, it is playoff season wins that count. In Monday night’s post-game comments Mahomes stayed classy.

Mahomes praised the defensive play of the Bills and simply added: “They got us.”

Mahomes is a quarterback who is always willing to take responsibility for mistakes and losses. He uses them to drive the team forward.

A needed wake-up call?

While there is no shame in losing to a team like the Bills, this might be just what the Chiefs’ offence needed to step up their performances.

Kareem Hunt and Xavier Worthy have proved game after game what assets they are to this team, especially in the absence of Isiah Pacheco – who has been sorely missed.

But Travis Kelce and JuJu Smith Schuster have been kept quiet.

The old adage of, ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ springs to mind when we were talking about a 9-0 team.

Now falling to 9-1, with and Pacheco’s potential return in Week 12 against the Panthers, surely this offence now needs to find their fire?

Either way, the pressure is off. The Chiefs’ season is not over. The Chiefs are not ‘washed’ and last night, the Bills did not win the Super Bowl.

On to Week 12!
