HuddleUK 2024 Awards: Offensive Player of the Year

Huddle 2024 Awards

The votes are in.

With the 2024 NFL regular season in the rearview mirror, it is time to reveal HuddleUK’s end-of-season award winners.

One UK-based fan of each of the 32 NFL franchises has voted and the results are now in.

To kick off our week of awards, today we reveal our Offensive Player of the Year.

Winner – Saquon Barkley [22 votes]

After an exceptional campaign with the Philadelphia Eagles in which he led the league in rushing, Saquon Barkley tops our OPOY poll.

He finished the regular season with 2,005 rushing yards, as well as 278 receiving yards and 15 total touchdowns.

Along the way, Barkley posted 255 yards – the ninth-most in NFL history – against the LA Rams in Week 12, breaking the Eagles’ single-game rushing record.

The former Giant also broke the internet with a backwards hurdle over Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones in Week 9.

Barkley became only the ninth player in NFL history to surpass 2,000 rushing yards in a season. Pretty good for someone who was rested for the last game before the playoffs.

Alas, that absence left him 100 yards short of Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record. Chris Johnson’s total scrimmage yards high of 2,509 yards also remains in tact.

Nonetheless, it was an historic season for Barkley and he deserves to walk off with Huddle UK’s inaugural OPOY award.

Runner-Up – Ja’Marr Chase [6 votes]

Cincinnati Bengals

Ja’Marr Chase was in the running for our OPOY award as just the sixth player to ever win the NFL’s receiving triple crown.

He led the league in all three receiving categories: 127 receptions, 1,708 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Chase’s consistency can be seen in his average of 100.5 yards and a touchdown in every game this season.

His undeniable chemistry with quarterback Joe Burrow solidified his position as the league’s leading wideout.

And soon, he will reset the receiver market when the Bengals inevitably extend his contract. Hopefully, all that money will be some compensation for not winning this award.

Third – Derrick Henry [2 votes]

In his first season with the Baltimore Ravens, Derrick Henry’s total of 1,921 rushing yards was only surpassed by Barkley.

Along with Buffalo’s James Cook and Detroit’s Jahmyr Gibbs, Henry led the league with 16 rushing touchdowns. He also posted 192 receiving yards and two more touchdowns.

‘King’ Henry’s powerful running style made him a crucial part of a Ravens team that retained the AFC North crown and is, at the time of writing, powering through the postseason.

He may yet get his hands on the Lombardi Trophy. But alas, the big one – the HuddleUK OPOY title – eludes him this time.
