The Philadelphia Eagles currently hold the second-worst passing offense in the NFL.
Despite winning a ninth consecutive game on Sunday night, Eagles fans have been quick to highlight an apparent issue in the teams offense – the ability to make plays in the passing game.
Ever since the blowout against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Eagles have looked unstoppable on both sides of the ball.
The Birds’ identity has been clear under Kellen Moore. Run the ball.
The talented offensive line have to create space at the line of scrimmage and allow the electric Saquon Barkley to make explosive plays, which inevitably ends in gaining a huge amount of yards.
However, fans have voiced their concern after Jalen Hurts failed to find his star wide receiver, A.J. Brown, on several occasions during Philadelphia’s victory over the Carolina Panthers. Brown finished the game with four receptions totalling 43 yards.
Asked after the game as to why the offense struggled so much, Brown offered a one word reply: “Passing.”
Does this signify trouble in paradise? Or is it just a statement made by a star who just wants to be involved in more plays?
It is well documented the Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown have formed a tight bond over the years. One where they will not be afraid to hold each other accountable as they strive for success.
Genuine concern?
In my opinion, this whole topic has been blown out of proportion by certain segments of the media.
The wide receivers will know that this Philadelphia offense is a unit that is going to run the ball.
Unfortunately, this means that for large portions of the game, they are not going to see much action – especially when your running back is an MVP candidate.
This may be a story to keep an eye on in the future if the Eagles begin to implode like they did in last years campaign – but for now, Philadelphia fans should relax and enjoy the scintillating form while it lasts.
