Top of the division no more.
Sunday night’s game against Seattle did not go to plan for the Arizona Cardinals.
They only managed a total of six points – their lowest tally in any game this year – as well as giving up their lead of the NFC West.
Drew Petzing could not get it going on offense when it mattered down in the red zone, as they failed to score a single touchdown.
After a very positive run of four consecutive wins, the Cardinals offense looked stale and out of ideas.
Kyler Murray threw for a more-than-decent 285 yards, with Trey McBride accounting for 133 of those receiving yards. But all of this work to muster up just two field goals is well below Arizona’s standard.
The game started off at a very slow pace, with a scoreless first quarter and the first half finishing 7-3 to the Seahawks.
A Pick-6 from Kyler in the third quarter is what ultimately swung the game for Seattle, and took them to the top of the NFC West.
Vikings on the horizon
This Sunday night brings another stern test for the Cardinals, travelling to Minnesota to face the 9-2 Vikings.
Only the Detroit Lions, and current Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs, have won more games this year than the Vikings.
Minnesota are the firm favourites for this one and Arizona need to find the formula that saw them score 25+ points in six different games this season.
Rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. only had three targets last week – good for 47 receiving yards.
They need get him more involved on offense and hope their defense can replicate the job it did on limiting Geno Smith and the Seattle offense to just one touchdown.
