The three-peat is calling.
We all knew what the Kansas City Chiefs’ goal for this season was. Ever since last year’s Super Bowl victory the Chiefs were talking three-peat.
Their 15-2 record did not matter to them, the criticism and the noise did not matter to them.
What mattered to them was getting to where they will be on Sunday – the Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX with a chance to do what no other team has done before and win their third consecutive Lombardi Trophy.
The only people not discussing the three-peat reportedly, is the Chiefs because, guess what? That is not good enough.
To the dismay of many an NFL supporter and despite the rumour mill, Travis Kelce has no plans to retire if he gets that third ring and all ambitions turn towards the four…peat?
Never satisfied with what they have achieved, the Chiefs are always striving for greatness – do not expect that to change if Patrick Mahomes and co. lift the trophy and make history on Sunday night.
Eagles the favourites?
The media have certainly painted the Chiefs as the underdogs… will they never learn?
Doubting the Chiefs only makes them fight harder and in Chiefs Kingdom, this is something we love to see.
This week, we have seen the question of ‘Can the Chiefs beat the Jalen Hurts and the mighty Eagles?’ It seems that some people have short memories, or have chosen to forget Super Bowl LVII.
Headlines have praised the ‘five gigantic humans’ in the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive line who are ready to ‘flatten the Kansas City Chiefs’ and the gambling odds are very close, only just in favour of the current reigning Super Bowl champions.
Time will tell and on Sunday night, I will be screaming for the Chiefs from Walkabout in Leicester, hoping that the forecast snow holds out long enough for me to get home!
I put a bet on the Chiefs to be outright winners of Super Bowl LIX after last years’ victory and I still have every confidence that this team will do it.
The Eagles can keep Saquan Barkley and the Miami Dolphins can keep Tyreek Hill, whatever has made fans question and disrespect the Chiefs again this season will no doubt continue into next year, but I am sure the prospect of a fifth ring for our dynasty team will keep them going.
Enjoy the Super Bowl everybody and here is hoping for a speedy offseason!
