As we all know, a white Christmas is a rare event in the UK.
This year, I am dreaming of a Jaguars win – which seems just as hard to come by.
It has been a tumultuous season and the atmosphere is palpable. The Jags are a tired football team desperately wanting to finish the season on a high.
A trip to Las Vegas seems like the right time to take a gamble and potentially come out with a gutsy win against the Raiders.
In a game which has very little bearing on their season, I would like to see a little bit of Christmas magic seep into the Jags’ play calls.
This could be aggressive fourth downs, trying a fake punt like we saw last week against the New York Jets, or a special play call reminiscent of the ‘Philly Special’ from Super Bowl LII.
As a fan, we have not had a lot to cheer about this season. A memorable festive play could make this season memorable for potentially a different reason.
That being said, last week we were playing confident football. The game did not go the way of the Jags, and the last minute interception thrown by Mac Jones made the effort feel somewhat wasted.
However, Brian Thomas Jr. shone last weekend breaking two franchise records – most receiving yards and most touchdowns for a rookie.
So as the festive season begins, people will be looking forward to the more ‘traditional’ things at this time of year.
Every person has their own traditions for Christmas, whether it be turkey and all the trimmings, Christmas trees and decorations or just getting together with family.
However, a few of us will be nervously sitting down this Christmas season hoping for an early present; Jacksonville getting back into the win column to spread some holiday cheer.
