When GM stands for ‘game-winning’ magic

Do the Titans finally have a general manager who can do the job?

Owner Amy Adams-Strunk certainly thinks so. Her and the Tennessee Titans organisation have hired Kansas City Chiefs assistant general manager Mike Borgonzi as their next GM.

Borgonzi has worked for the Chiefs organisation for 16 years in an array of roles. From scouting to football operations, player personnel and more recently the assistant GM, Borgonzi has done the lot..

He has had a hand in every facet of the Chiefs roster building. He was there when they drafted Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill along with also being heavily involved in both the DeAndre Hopkins and L’Jarius Sneed trades.

I am really excited to see what he can do, especially when we are in such a good position for the upcoming draft. Can he find us a Titans sapphire – you know, since we wear blue and diamonds are overrated?

Travis Kelce was the 63rd pick and Tyreek Hill went all the way back at 165th, showing you do not have to be a first round pick to shine.

New special teams coordinator

If that was not enough, the Colt Anderson era has finally come to an end! The special teams coordinator has been replaced with the coaching legend John ‘Bones’ Fassel.

This change has not indicated whether Anderson has been fired or demoted, in fact very little has been said in that regard at all.

But let us talk about Fassel for a minute, because the man knows how to coach a specials team.

During his time with the Dallas Cowboys in 2024 they were first in kick return touchdowns, first in kick return average, first in returns of 40+ yards and led the league in punt return touchdowns.

The Cowboys were also one of three NFL teams to recover an onside kick during the regular season – per @JakeandBall.

He has also worked with some highly-regarded coaches including Billy Billick, Sean McVay, and our very own Jeff Fisher. I am excited to see what he can do.

For now, the coaching changes all seem positive and I am excited to see what happens.

Maybe with a rebuild we can finally get back to the fighting tough Tennessee everyone knows we once were and can be again.
