Will the Bears blow hot or cold against the Patriots?

Will the ‘Windy City’ boys blow down the Patriots once again?

The winds of political change have blown in America, and the Chicago Bears of the windy city have their own opportunity to resurrect a faltering campaign when they take on the New England Patriots at Soldier Field this coming Sunday.

The Bears have not won a match since their last encounter with England, a rousing 35-16 demolition of the Jacksonville Jaguars at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in mid-October.

The Patriots do have a more recent win on the board, 25-22 against the New York Jets in Week 8.

Prior to that, their last two victories were Tom Brady’s penultimate ring and the 1781 Siege of Joe Burrow – in that order.

Chicago’s offence has blown hot and cold all year, 30 point booms and single figure busts.

It all culminated in a lacklustre nine-point tally against the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday.

Fantasy owners holding components of this Chicago team have no idea whether to start or sit on any given Sunday.

One of the more interesting incidents of the Arizona game – from a Bears perspective – was wide receiver DJ Moore wandering from the field mid-way through a play.

Despite accusations of ‘giving up’ on the team, Moore later revealed that he had rolled his ankle and decided to let his momentum carry him off to the sideline.

The truth of this claim is hotly debated on social media, and in any other week would be trending higher than ‘Was the 2020 election rigged?’.

Moore is currently available to play on Sunday, although I cannot advise you on whether you should start or sit.

Chicago not actually that windy

I was once told – by a Chicago native at a dive bar in the heart of Rome – that Chicago is not called ‘The Windy City’ for any meteorological reason.

Instead, it is due to the nature of its inhabitants to change political leanings from one side to the other, blowing from Democrat to Republican and vice versa.

Chicago voted blue on this occasion, whereas those upstarts from Green Bay placed a cross in the box of the new leader of the free world.

The city of Chicago will be hoping the blue team finally get the points majority they need this coming Sunday.
